Champion of the Crescent 2026 Brings the Community Together
On Thursday, July 23, Houle proudly participated in the 2026 Surrey Hospitals Foundation’s Champion of the Crescent annual paddleboard event. In addition to being a Course Sponsor, we had two teams of paddlers taking to the water to make waves and raise funds for youth mental health programs in the community.
With eight paddlers, including crew members from our New Surrey Hospital and BC Cancer Centre project, our teams embraced a day of friendly competition, teamwork, and community spirit alongside industry peers in support of these important programs and services.

This year’s event raised an impressive $213,545 to support youth mental health initiatives and resources that help children and young adults build resilience, navigate challenges, and access the care they need to thrive. Funding supports specialized programs and therapeutic services, including:
- Art, Music and Recreation Therapy
- Sensory Interventions
- Therapeutic Writing
Together, these programs provide young people with meaningful opportunities to express themselves, develop healthy coping strategies, and strengthen their overall mental well-being. By supporting early intervention and access to care, these programs help young people achieve better long-term outcomes in both their academic and personal lives.
