Prince Rupert Airport–Terminal Upgrade
Projects / Commercial / Infrastructure
Project info
Prince Rupert is a key transportation hub for BC’s North Coast, serving as a vital link for land, air, and water transportation. The Prince Rupert airport, consisting of the air terminal building, maintenance building, fire hall, and runway, was built in the 1960s and early 1970s and required a significant upgrade.
Our scope consisted of fully renovating all electrical systems on the existing 20,000 square feet air terminal building. The project was completed in stages and involved completely gutting the terminal building down to the framework and rebuilding accordingly for each project phase. This included supplying and installing interior and exterior lighting fixtures, public address system, lighting controls, fire alarm, video surveillance, Canada Border Services Agency equipment infrastructure, and NAV CANADA systems infrastructure.
To overcome challenges with access to the site and materials, we utilized prefabrication to reduce our on-site footprint and ensure consistent quality of the installation. As a result, the upgraded air terminal building now provides a modern and safe facility that meets the needs of travelers to Prince Rupert and the surrounding area.

Fairview Container Terminal—North Expansion Phase II
Projects / Infrastructure
Project info
The Fairview Container Terminal is a dedicated intermodal facility that provides a high-velocity gateway for transpacific container trade. The Fairview Phase II North Expansion project consisted of a berth expansion, wharf upgrade, mooring dolphin, and container stacking and storage yards. All electrical and technology systems within the facility required upgrades and additions to accommodate such a vast expansion.
Our team delivered electrical and structured cabling solutions for the project, which included substation upgrades, relocating and installing new Canada Border Services Agency radiation portals, new technology feeder systems for the gantry cranes, and a major fibre optic system upgrade for communications and specialized lighting controls. We also relocated and installed a 150 foot high, high-mast lighting system for the terminal and new specialized Cavotec shore-power systems.
The project was a major undertaking for our team and required careful work to ensure safe and reliable electrical systems. We performed the work in stages to allow full operation of the facility without interruptions.

Victoria International Airport—Hold BAggage Screening Recapitalization
Projects / Commercial / Infrastructure
Project info
The Hold Bag Screening (HBS) Recapitalization project at the Victoria International Airport consisted of modifying the existing HBS system to improve passenger safety. The changes brought the security screening up to international standards and included improved explosive detection devices and computer tomography.
Our team provided electrical construction and control cabling for all four-way sorters, spiral power curves, and bag alignment devices VFDs. We installed photo eyes on cable trays mounted above the conveyor systems and terminated them back to five different control panels. All units were linked together via Ethernet IP so the client can remotely monitor from a control room what each drive unit is doing at all times.

Nanaimo Airport—Terminal Expansion Phase 1
Projects / Commercial / Infrastructure
Project info
In 2016, the Nanaimo Airport Commission Board of Directors approved a 20-year Master Development Plan for the terminal building. The first phase was a $14.2-million expansion of the Nanaimo Airport Air Terminal Building, which officially opened on February 28, 2020.
The expansion was one of the largest projects in the airport’s history. This project added 14,000 square feet of space, increasing the current footprint by approximately 60% and providing additional comfort and convenience for travelers.
The scope included a new pre-board screening area with future capacity to screen 1,000 people per hour, a departure lounge that has seating for more than 300 people, and Wi-Fi and device charging stations. The expansion of the airport also allows for the potential for new routes.
Our team provided electrical, security, structured cabling, and audio visual solutions for this project, which included electrical distribution, custom lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, in-floor duct systems, public address, video surveillance, and access control.
