Requiring an upgrade to its building control system, the Simon Fraser University EcoStruxure Refresh project provided a unique challenge: migrating from the legacy Andover Continuum controls system to the new front end of the Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Automation System while keeping all existing legacy hardware in place.
Our work involved upgrading SFU’s building controls system, including graphics and programming, from an outdated system to Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Building Automation system. This included programming and graphics for 50 new AS-P controllers (Schneider’s Automation Server). The AS-Ps now hosts approximately 1,500 Andover Continuum controllers, managing 15,000 control points across 40 buildings.
The AS-P controllers allow the new Schneider Enterprise Server to communicate seamlessly with both legacy Andover Continuum hardware and modern EcoStruxure hardware. The upgrade introduced modern graphics, advanced analytics, improved control and network security, and cost savings. The new system will enable the client to phase out the legacy system over time, allowing a flexible, staged replacement strategy.
