Projects / Infrastructure

Project info

With the previous Fire Station #2 having exceeded its effective building life, the District of Saanich required a new facility that would meet the needs of its growing community while aligning with the District’s sustainability goals.

Once complete, the new Fire Station #2 will be a two-storey, 23,400 sq. ft., post-disaster–rated mass timber facility. It will accommodate up to ten firefighters and eight vehicles. The building is being constructed to meet several energy performance standards, including the CaGBC Zero Carbon Building Standard, LEED® Gold, and Energy Step Code Level 2.

OUR SCOPE

We are delivering the building controls scope for this project, utilizing the Reliable Controls platform. This includes system integration of the geothermal heat pump system and heat recovery ventilation (HRV) units; monitoring and recording building energy and domestic water consumption through hydronic thermal energy meters and informational water meters; and interfacing with the building’s electrical meters. Through extensive BACnet integrations, our team has connected third-party equipment via network protocols, ensuring seamless communication between all building systems.
