North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP —Civic Building

  • 50,000 Square Foot
  • 3-Storey
  • Net-Zero Ready

Projects / Institutional

Project info

Originally built in the 1980s for 40 employees, the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP had well exceeded its original capacity. The new three-storey detachment was being built to meet the needs of the growing community and accommodate the new policing technologies that will provide enhanced public safety.

This project will be net-zero ready, targeting specific energy consumption goals. Designed to meet post-disaster standards, the new building will provide emergency services and support for the Cowichan Valley community, even in the face of extreme events.

Our scope includes all new electrical construction including distribution, power, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power (generator and UPS), a photovoltaic system, grounding, and digital metering. Technology systems include datacoms, access control, video surveillance, fire alarm, and public address.

The District of Squamish required the development of a new post-disaster Firehall and Emergency Operations Centre. Moving the Fire Rescue headquarters, Emergency Operations Centre, and IT Server Room out of the floodplain and into a post-disaster building was critical for effective emergency response. Now completed, first responders work in a building that meets all seismic and occupational health and safety standards.

We provided design-assist services to the construction team. Our scope included all electrical work, exterior and interior lighting, a digital sub-metering system, emergency power, network systems, a fire alarm system, a public address system, and security access control and intrusion alarms.

Project info

Located in the heart of downtown Victoria, directly behind the beautiful BC Legislative Buildings, the new Capital Park community features mixed-use spaces for life, work, and play. Replacing the previous 1940’s buildings and covering nearly a city block, Capital Park contains offices, retail amenities, residential buildings, and open landscaped public areas.

We are proud to have worked on this site since 1988 throughout its many changes. Some projects we have completed at Capital Park include Buildings A1 and A2, Building B, a library, landscape lighting, a retail pavilion, and several tenant improvements.

For these projects we delivered electrical and technology scopes, including electrical and systems distribution, LED lighting with DDC lighting controls, mass notification fire alarm system, Cat6A data installation, access control, CCTV systems, intrusion, and sound masking systems.
