Project info

Referred to locally as “The Nat,” the Nat Bailey Stadium has been home to baseball fans in Vancouver since 1951. Thousands of viewers attend games at the stadium each year for the local Vancouver Canadians team, playing in the short- season Single-A league.

Being a legacy venue, the stadium was in need of a lighting upgrade. The decision was made to install high-powered LED, field-of-play lighting to reduce light pollution and to provide brighter, flicker-free light for improved game and broadcast performance.

For this project, we provided the electrical installation and testing of new high-mast, field-of-play LED stadium lighting. This included the replacement of light fixtures on seven out of eight existing light towers, a new light tower, six additional lights on the roof of the building, and an LED driver enclosure. Working next to an operational indoor sports complex, our team was able to safely coordinate all major equipment lifts to minimize disruption to the public.

Project info

BC Place Stadium is the largest multi-purpose venue in the province of British Columbia. The stadium hosts sports, exhibitions, live entertainment, and community gatherings right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. In 2018, a review of the Field of Play lighting system resulted in a decision to upgrade to a modern, energy efficient LED system that would meet the advanced requirements of a world-class, multi-purpose stadium.

Our scope of work included removing 552 existing 1500W metal halide Field of Play luminaires and replacing them with a turnkey solution that included 372 new 1400W Field of Play LED luminaires, 36 RGBW luminaires, and a new lighting control system. The project needed to be completed in less than two months to be ready in time for the next season of sports.

With the expertise of our project team, we were able to satisfy all specified requirements while finishing ahead of schedule. The new lighting system also features outstanding colour rendering, temperature control, and uniformity for world-class live events. The lights also have reduced glare and are flicker-free, designed for super-slow-motion broadcasting.

Project info

This highly anticipated project brought the SFU community a permanent outdoor facility that’s transforming campus life – connecting students, alumni, and the community. The new stadium provides modernized amenities, seating, and spectacular sightlines beneath the stunning cantilevered canopy roof.

For this project, we provided electrical, lighting, security systems, structured cabling, and audio visual services. Our scope included underground, in-slab, and surface conduit work connecting precast elements with integrated light fixtures to the main building. We installed over 3,000 feet of in-slab conduit in the upper level to integrate the installation of light fixtures, speakers, and cameras into the wooden cantilevered roof – completing a 350-foot duct bank that had to be reinstated upon project completion.

The electrical scope of this project was uniquely challenging as it required a coordinated installation of our electrical through multiple precast elements all of which were fabricated off-site and craned into position. Each element had to come together with precision to deliver a cohesive structure that tied into the existing Lorne Davies Complex.
