Tsawwassen Mills Mall is a fully enclosed shopping mall composed of 200 retail units. As the largest shopping mall to be built in Canada since 2009, Tsawwassen Mills Mall has a unique mix of premium fashion brands, factory outlets, restaurants, and first-to-market retailers.

On this project, we provided the base building’s full scope of electrical, lighting, security, and structured cabling services. We fitted out 21 electrical rooms which feed distribution to 200 tenants and installed the fire alarm for all tenants. 

Our main challenge on this project was the sheer size of the mall. The shopping centre, with a total footprint of 1.2 million square feet (equivalent to 80 hockey rinks), is 1km long. To save on time, we had to ensure that all materials and site facilities were set up to maximize productivity and minimize travel time. 

We also serviced hundreds of electrical changes during the two-year span of the project, with a majority of the changes occurring during the last year. To manage these changes, we established careful coordination with the general contractor, consultants, trades, and owner.
