Located at Roberts Bank in Delta, BC, GCT Deltaport is one of the largest container terminals in Canada. To increase security and improve terminal efficiency and container reservation, the port planned to install a vehicle access control system near the causeway overpass.
Our team provided electrical and technology solutions for the project, including two new electrical rooms with propane generators, fibre-optic cabling, security, and traffic control devices. We also coordinated the civil construction in the immediate vicinity of the entrance and exit gates, including concrete forming and finishing, and asphalt paving.
A significant part of this project was the installation of 23.9 kilometres of fibre, pulled from Roberts Bank, across the Port Mann bridge, to the Emergency Communications for British Columbia, the main communication hub for Greater Vancouver. As an operational port, with high traffic volume, we worked closely with the client to coordinate our work around operational needs and spaces, working primarily overnight to reduce disruption to the terminal.
