Esquimalt Graving Dock North Landing Wharf Substation Replacement

Projects / Industrial

Project info

The Esquimalt Graving Dock is the largest non-military hard bottom dry dock on the west coast of the Americas. The dock has been used for the repair and maintenance of military and civilian vessels since 1927 – it plays an important part in the economy of British Columbia’s local coastal communities. The project consists of the replacement of the obsolete electrical substation on the North Landing Wharf with a new substation. Work included electrical safety upgrades to address potential health and safety hazards as well as associated civil work.

For this project we built a new substation with expanded infrastructure to accommodate future expansion and system upgrades to the 25KV system. This new station is fully integrated into the facility’s SCADA system to help maintain and monitor current conditions while mitigating potential electrical hazards.
