The 39,000 square foot Nobel Biocare Oral Health Centre at the University of British Columbia uses state-of-the-art technology and an innovative architectural design to create a sophisticated, efficient space for learning, community service, and research.
Houle, in partnership with the General Contractor Stuart Olson, was the electrical contractor for the new Faculty of Dentistry Health Centre. Applying vast experience in the hospital and health care sector, Houle was commended for lending an experienced eye to the design of the entire project and for working as a team with many other trade contractors in an especially small and challenging working ‘footprint.’ Houle was responsible for the intricate and custom wiring for each of the clinic’s 140 unique ‘smart chairs’ as well as the clinic’s extensive mechanical power requirements. Houle also constructed the clinic’s electrical and data rooms, installed a designated emergency generator and transfer switch, completed extensive lighting work, and brought power to security, fire safety, paging, and audio visual systems.
