Located at the north side of False Creek Place in Vancouver, BC, BC Place is a multi-purpose stadium owned and operated by the province’s crown corporation BC Pavilion Corporation. Construction for the stadium completed in 1983 as part of the preparations for the 1986 World’s Fair (Expo 86). The stadium was the world’s largest air-supported domed stadium until 2010 when it was deflated in preparation of its new retractable roof. BC Place Stadium is now home of the BC Lions football team, Vancouver Whitecaps soccer team, annual Canada Sevens world rugby series, and BC Sports Hall of Fame.
Houle worked with BC Place IT to cross over the existing Video Management System (VMS) platform to an Enterprise IP Video Surveillance Software. The upgrade utilized existing network, cable, and camera infrastructure. All these systems needed to be maintained and operational while the upgrade was taking place. 137 cameras were updated with the newest firmware, adjusted for ideal performance and re-addressed onto the BC Place corporate IP scheme which includes 13 network switches located throughout the stadium. Houle crossed over all cameras without any disturbance to security operations.
Houle also installed touch screen panels in the operations booth to improve security monitoring during events. New workstations and wall mounted monitors were also installed. All work was completed prior to a BC Place event deadline.
